about

I wrote this song while I was waiting for the sun to rise. My friend, Anthony Herbold came over to watch it with me. We went to a local taco place, Las Palmas, in my hometown of Seguin. We got back, talked for a while, and fell asleep before the sun rose. So I wrote this song about the sunrise that I had hoped I'd see. I missed that, but I've been granted sunrises every day since.

lyrics

Verse 1:
The Sun is slowly rising, cant you see it on the horizon, isn’t it beautiful?
the day is slowly dawning and there ain’t no time for yawning, my God it’s so beautiful.

Chorus 1:
If I die tomorrow, no don’t be filled with sorrow
Don’t hang your head and wallow,
Pick up your face and rejoice for the new day

Verse 2:
The daytime has come, and there’s work needs to be done, but it can wait.
Cause’ this feels great
The sun’s face beams down upon us, can’t you feel it shining on us, oh isn’t it great?
Yeah this feels great.

Chorus 2:
If I die today, no don’t feel blue or grey
Don’t let your mind astray
Just look up to the sky and rejoice for the new day.
Yeah it’s a new day!

Bridge:
Well when one thing goes, another appears
And all the blurriness, it becomes clear.
So grab your loved ones, and hold them near
And know, they’ll never disappear.

Chorus 3:
If I die tomorrow, no don’t be filled with sorrow
Don’t hang your head and wallow,
Just look up to the sky and rejoice for the new day.
Yeah it's new day! It's a new day...
